Runaway Trainer | Poem
Article voiceover
Do what the trainer doeth Think what the trainer thinketh Fear what the trainer feareth Before damns make trainers damneth. To yous who know what’s best for them To yous who were the best of them Be wary of forgetfulness What rest sure does to weariness. For the trainer never sleeps Wakes before the dawns Somehow, naught of yawns For the trainer’s always on. They eat between their gates By planes who taxi late On ‘lines that are not great By routes, you make their fate. Expense, expense, expense their lives Till you tell them you’re incentivized: Reduce the cost of their lives That they count on to survive. Then upon her trainer wall The new ones come The new ones fall Yet yous question why we stall. Not but two in two years Have powered through Their trainer fears Yet they cry to deaf ears. Instead yous say, with goals of gold Yous ask them always what they’ve sold Yous redefine their trainer role To that of peddlers, peddling mold, For nothing’s changed since ‘96 The numbers sink, fast as bricks They point out wrongs, wrongs not fixed Then trainers leave, then trainers nixed. Faster, faster yous up train When stronger, stronger is their pain Of come and go, they make no gain They cannot study on the plane. Yet yous look at their TCal And wonder why they ever howl With DIBs and PTOs, You see not their go, go, gos, The never-ending doctor shows That cost the doctors all their dough Yous tell them they will grow and grow Which now exceeds what trainers sow. The step and dance of trainer song Is smoke and mirrors and play along “The doctors never know what’s wrong” Except for thousands passed along. This is writing on the wall That this team is ‘bout to fall One and two and three and four How much more can they afford?
